Create Your Dreams was founded. Twenty students are selected from Boyd Elementary School and enroll as our inaugural class, beginning with an arts-based summer camp.
CYD completes first year of our unique after-school program, based at the King Plow Arts Center. Students enjoy activities designed to teach goal setting, self-expression, and leadership.
CYD’s enrollment reaches forty students.Student artwork is displayed at a Cultural Olympiad exhibit and we attend various Olympic events.
The Favorite tradition at CYD begins. Home Depot employees sponsor CYD’s first Holiday Party, providing gifts for each student. Each year students and their families enjoy this event, which includes a CYD talent show and BINGO!
With CYD students now in or approaching high school, CYD includes college and career planning curriculum.CYD hosts first career fair where students learn about a variety of careers and network with professionals.
CYD begins a three year career shadowing program, matching students’ interests with paid job opportunities and career mentors.
CYD reaches its first milestone: our first two students graduate from high school, both with plans to attend college.To ensure a long future, CYD adds in a new elementary class from Boyd. CYD also purchases an activity bus and launches an individualized tutoring program.
First full class of students graduates from CYD. All 13 seniors graduate from high school and 11 have plans to pursue a higher education.A second class from Boyd is added to continue their legacy and CYD launches a college preparation program.
Our 14th student graduates and attends college. We now serve over 50 bright students who believe “there’s no place like CYD.”
