Since 1994, Kim has been part of the CYD community. She began as a volunteer the summer of '94 and was soon hired to develop and shape the program. The consistency Kim brings to the program, along with having a positive relationship with all past and present families adds tremendously to the family environment of CYD, and our long-term success. Kim lives on the Westside of Atlanta with her three children and two dogs.
For five years Peter has been responsible for creating and supervising the age-appropriate and enriching curriculum used to support student development at CYD. Peter most enjoys watching students navigate the different stages in their lives and grow into young adults. Before joining the CYD Dream Team, Peter graduated from Georgia College & State University with a B.A. in Third World Studies. When he is not at CYD, Peter enjoys hanging out with family, watching The Office, and playing basketball with his son.
Being born and raised in Atlanta, Zanetta was elated to join the CYD Dream Team. For over four years they have served as the Human Service Manager, supporting the social and emotional well-being of all its students. They also support CYD students who are post-secondary, coordinating the dispersion of the College & Career Success Fund. Zanetta received their B.A. from Claremont McKenna College and M.S.W. from Columbia University. Zanetta believes in the empowerment of all marginalized peoples and enjoys all things fantasy/sci-fi.
Shireen has served as the Resource Operations Manager since March 2014. She has over 20 years of experience in the auditing and accounting industry with a primary focus on not-for-profit and government organizations. Since joining the CYD team, she has worked to enhance our financial reporting and budgeting process along with assisting in the areas of fundraising and Board support. Shireen has a B.A. in Accounting from Florida A & M University. Some of her hobbies and interests include singing, reading, and cooking. She and her husband Derry have been married for almost 20 years, and they have three beautiful children.
A North Carolina native, Maria has been all things transportation for nearly three years and enjoys every moment of it. Since joining the CYD team, along with overseeing transportation, she has taken on the role of Outreach Coordinator, reaching out to the community to volunteer at CYD. Maria graduated from North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University with a B.A in English. When she’s not at CYD, she’s enjoying movies & music.
Yasheena has been a part of the CYD family for over fourteen years, beginning her career as a CYD student in the 4th grade. After graduating she continued to stay connected with the CYD community, volunteering when possible. After graduating from Georgia State University with a B.A. in Human Learning and Development, Yasheena joined the CYD Dream Team and oversees the tutoring program, supporting the academic success of CYD students. When not at CYD, Yasheena enjoys traveling, hanging out with friends, and reading good books.
Fifteen years ago Laquasha started her journey at CYD as a student and was happy to join the Dream Team in 2018. As the Weekend Enrichment Coordinator Laquasha enjoys planning and coordinating fun and diverse weekend activities that expose the students to experiences outside of their everyday environment. Laquasha graduated in 2016 with her degree in Early Childhood Education and is now pursuing her B.A. in Organizational Leadership at Atlanta Metropolitan State College. She wishes to one day start her own non-profit organization to pay forward the opportunities she received through CYD.
